Theodore Roosevelt writes his sister Anna that he has done very well on some of his examinations, but he is having a hard time studying because he is leading such a wonderful life. He writes Alice Hathaway Lee wants to get married in the fall but he will probably have to battle her parents over it.

He believes he did fairly well, though not as well if he had not spent so much time at Chestnut Hill. He explains that he will be home in a short time, but will have to go to Mt. Desert as he promised Jack.

Kermit Roosevelt has a year of hard work ahead of him with his Harvard examinations. He is also trying out for the rowing crew in spite of the bad weather and had a good holiday riding and jumping horses every day. Roosevelt visited Robert Harry Munro and Isabella Ferguson in New York twice. The Roosevelts had plans to take the Mayflower down the Mississippi River, but Archibald B. Roosevelt is developing diphtheria, so it is out of the question.

Kermit Roosevelt will be taking his final examinations in a week. He has found it difficult to get back into his studies after leaving during his freshman year and coming back a junior. Roosevelt plans to complete his degree next year.

Theodore Roosevelt thanks his mother for writing to him so regularly. He finished his exams and is afraid that his romantic pursuit of Alice Lee was “tough” on his studies. Roosevelt saw Alice twice last week and will not be able to see her again for several days. The ring has arrived safely.

The weather has been poor but Theodore Roosevelt has been fortunate not to catch a cold. He has been looking over a letter from Theodore Roosevelt Sr., and feels sad he can no longer write to him. Roosevelt had a three hour examination today and will be visiting home two weeks from next Friday.

Theodore Roosevelt passed his examinations but did not do as well as expected. He had been bothered by a slight headache. Roosevelt is thankful the hard work is over until next year. He will be leaving on the Thursday afternoon train.
