He notes that he has explained repeatedly that he is not responsible for what appears in The Outlook and that people are circulating the clipping in question and are giving the impression that Roosevelt is responsible for the contents.

He did not receive the clippings Hapgood wanted Roosevelt to return, although he applauds his “very worthy action in opening accounts in the Savings Bank for the twelve babies.”
