Two hero police officers from Long Island receive the 2005 Theodore Roosevelt Police Award
John G. Staudt describes the battles with cancer fought by the two winners of the 2005 Theodore Roosevelt Police Award for Long Island. Lee Krill of Nassau County, New York, and Kathleen A. McGowan of Suffolk County, New York, both successfully underwent cancer treatments and returned to police duty. Staudt describes the award ceremony at Sagamore Hill National Historic Site, lists the speakers, and notes some of the dignitaries and members of the Theodore Roosevelt Association in attendance.
A photograph of the winners with some of the dignitaries and speakers supplements the article along with a photograph of President Theodore Roosevelt with veterans of his Rough Rider regiment. A text box acknowledging the support of Long Island Commercial Bank for the police awards is also included.
