Roosevelt was able to engineer Taft’s nomination in spite of the number of people who wished to renominate him, and he has high hopes that Taft will be able to continue to carry out his policies. In a brief biographical sketch, the article highlights some of Taft’s accomplishments and preparations for becoming President of the United States, including his time as president of the Philippine Commission, and his tenure as Secretary of War.
