Letter from Stewart Edward White to Theodore Roosevelt
Novelist Stewart Edward White asks President Roosevelt for permission to travel with the battleship Maryland for the upcoming target practice run as he wants to observe shipboard routines closely. His naval officer relative, Charles Belknap, reports no objections among the ship’s senior officers regarding White’s request. White sends his two latest books for Roosevelt and the boys. Feeling Roosevelt will be interested, White also wants to submit a review of his impressions concerning military discipline in Yosemite Park. His wife, Elizabeth Colvert Grant White, asks that Roosevelt and Edith Kermit Carow Roosevelt remember her.
