President Roosevelt praises the names Ernest Harold Baynes has assembled, and is pleased to accept the honorary presidency of the American Bison Society. While he cannot be present at the first meeting, if Baynes can arrange for a meeting to be held in Washington, D.C., after October 1, Roosevelt would be pleased to receive the members of the organization at the White House.

Butchery and sale of big game in Northern Alaska

A statement authored by William T. Hornaday criticizes the Sulzer bill which would allow for the sale of moose, caribou, and white mountain sheep meat in Northern Alaska. Hornaday reports that he and several prominent game conservation associations were shocked to discover that the legal sale of big game in Alaska had been occurring for some time.

Letter from Ernest Harold Baynes to Theodore Roosevelt

Ernest Harold Baynes, on behalf of the American Bison Society, asks President Roosevelt to write a small statement on wildlife conservation. The Society will be featured in an upcoming issue of Country Life in America, and Baynes thinks Roosevelt’s words would have a big impact on their efforts. Baynes also writes to say that the the Society is doing well, and is considering several sites for the establishment of bison herds.
