Letter from Theodore Roosevelt to Alfred Stokes

Theodore Roosevelt must regretfully inform Alfred Stokes that he cannot accept his invitation to speak. Roosevelt receives thousands of similar invitations but he is unable to accept “one in a hundred” of them, owing to the toll that such engagements take upon him. To accept more speaking engagements would make it impossible for Roosevelt to accomplish any other work.
