Theodore Roosevelt thanks Reverend Schick for his letter about his Church and family. Roosevelt is glad to hear Johnny is going to school, that James is working in the law, and that Mary runs the library in the Soldiers’ Home. He sends regards to Mrs. Schick and wishes he could help Schick now, but he has many demands on him.

Letter from Theodore Roosevelt to John M. Schick

President Roosevelt encloses a check for $25 to be given to Catherine E. Trageser, and thanks Reverend Schick for helping her even though she is not connected with Grace Reformed Church. Roosevelt comments that she seems to be a worthy case, trying to take care of her children and invalid husband, and asks Schick to tell him of similar cases in the future, “where both the need and the merit are very real.”
