Theodore Roosevelt and Alice Lee Roosevelt are enjoying their honeymoon. Roosevelt appreciated the Doree gallery but was “more amused than pleased” with the Aesthetes exhibits at the Grosvenor Gallery. Crossing the Irish and English Channels went well, and Alice was not even seasick. Getting a hat box through customs was difficult, but Roosevelt’s revolver and flask passed through easily.

Theodore Roosevelt relates the chase and capture of three thieves that had stolen his boat. The thieves were captured along the river and then Roosevelt took them overland to the sheriff in Dickinson, Dakota Territory. He read Anna Karenina during the trip and has mixed feelings about the quality of the book but enjoyed Leo Tolstoy’s writing style. Roosevelt requests that Corinne Roosevelt Robinson deliver some flowers to Edith Kermit Carow before Carow travels abroad.

Zelie Mercedes Eberstadt Leigh offers to donate a letter written by Theodore Roosevelt to the Roosevelt Memorial Association. The letter was written in response to a letter sent by Leigh relating the time her sister, Esther, announced that she could no longer play with one of her friends because that girl’s father was not going to vote for Roosevelt.
