Theodore Roosevelt received the “beautiful copy” of The Birds of the Cambridge Region and prizes it. He reminds William Brewster to inform him when he comes next, and he will arrange for Brewster, William T. Hornaday, Charles Sheldon, and perhaps others to visit Sagamore Hill.

Civil Service Commissioner Roosevelt informs ornithologist William Brewster that Mr. Faxon disagreed with Roosevelt’s report regarding the use of terms “naturalist” and “biologist.” They will therefore have to put in two reports since Faxon feels the zoological paragraphs were irrelevant. Roosevelt asks Brewster to get the report back if he sees Faxon since Roosevelt wants to send it to Charles Francis Adams.

Theodore Roosevelt asks ornithologist William Brewster to send him a copy of The Birds of the Cambridge Region. He is pleased at what Brewster said about his African Game Trails. Roosevelt has been so busy the past few years he has not been able to focus on natural history but now he is free and working on a pamphlet about bird and mammal coloration. He criticizes Abbott Handerson Thayer’s book and invites Brewster to lunch.
