He is pleased that Catholic agitation against the Roosevelt administration is “quelled for good.” The new Apostolic delegate to the Philippines, Monsignor Giovanni Battista Guidi, is an old friends of Ireland’s and is an excellent choice.

Senator Lodge was disappointed he was unable to be there to see President’s Roosevelt’s reception by Governor Crane however he wanted to be in good health for his Portland speech. Ballard, a reporter, has impressed Lodge. Lodge is also disgusted by the Duchess of Marlborough scandal.
