Judge Lindsey accuses Philip Battell Stewart of seeking a compromise with the Taft Republicans due to his ambition to become governor of Colorado. Many machine politicians are supporting Stewart’s plan and Stewart’s followers will not take part in the Progressive Convention in Chicago. Lindsey supports a fully independent Progressive Party in Colorado and requests Theodore Roosevelt’s approval, which he believes will be decisive in garnering progressive support.
