Bigelow heard that Theodore Roosevelt liked Jean Leon Gerome Ferris’s painting “Lord Howe’s Ball,” and is sending him a copy of Ferris’s latest painting, “Christmas Eve at Mount Vernon.” Bigelow would like Roosevelt to know that he does not intend this as advertising for his printing company.
