City Superintendent Maxwell writes to Dr. Butler to inform him that he has looked into Paul M. Guttin’s request for work as a French instructor. Guttin has not furnished his educational credentials and, even if he had, there are five other instructors who scored higher than he did on the entrance exam. Maxwell also notes that he has invited Guttin to visit him and that he will advise him, but that is the most he can do.
