John C. Shaffer held individual meetings with Charles Gates Dawes and Graeme Stewart, both of whom will support the Republican ticket and not ally with Senator William E. Mason, who is now eliminated from the Senatorial contest. All parties have a problem with Illinois Governor RIchard Yates.
