Richard E. Oldenburg emphasizes the personal side of Peter R. Fisher in his eulogy at Fisher’s funeral. Oldenburg notes Fisher’s love of history as manifested in his substantial library, his love of old homes, and his undergraduate studies. He says that in a world divided between hosts and guests, Fisher was a host who greatly enjoyed the company of his friends. A photograph of Fisher with his wife Cary Fox Fisher at the wedding of their daughter accompanies the eulogy.
