President Roosevelt thanks General Sickles for his letter and mentions that he was especially pleased with what was said about Major General Leonard Wood. Roosevelt states that Wood and Major General George Bell Jr. “are the two best general officers we have,” except for Lieutenant General Adna Romanza Chaffee.
