Riis a feeling of humility upon reading the biography Riis wrote of him and claims “you have not painted me as I am but as I would like to be.” Roosevelt professes that Riis’s words spur him on, though he thinks that some day, Riis will realize he was mistaken as to Roosevelt’s powers.
