Theodore Roosevelt understands how Germans feel, except for their attitude towards Belgium. There is no evidence that Belgium provoked Germany and no excuse for the violation of Belgian neutrality. Roosevelt believes the United States should have strongly protested the violation of neutrality and he would have been willing to go even farther. He sends a copy of a letter he sent to a friend that further states his views. Roosevelt also expanded upon his views in America and the World War.
