President Roosevelt introduces Alma Curtin to Charles Scribner. Curtin hopes to publish some manuscripts of her late husband, Jeremiah Curtin. Roosevelt does not ask Scribner to publish the works, but asks him to examine the manuscripts and give Curtin a fair chance.
