President Roosevelt tells Alexander Lambert that he is glad to hear about Mr. Dooley and the Century. He says that if he appoints anyone from New York, it will likely be James Bronson Reynolds. Roosevelt is still undecided, however, and says that he thinks highly of Goodwin Brown.
