President Roosevelt assures Philip Battell Stewart that it was unnecessary for him to write to William Loeb. Stewart’s testament about Kurnal Rufus Babbitt’s character is sufficient to Roosevelt. However, Roosevelt does inform Stewart that there is “practically unanimous opinion against him” from everyone besides Stewart.
