President Roosevelt is sorry to hear of the death of Reginald Ronalds’s father. Unfortunately, he cannot come to Ronalds’s upcoming wedding because he is asked to so many and going to his would would cause “great heart-burning” in those whose requests he refuses. He asks Ronalds instead if he and his future wife can have lunch the day before.
