Letter from Theodore Roosevelt to Irving Putnam

Subject(s): Football, Honor, Letters, Simile

In his meeting with “the football men,” President Roosevelt used the same metaphor about cheating at cards that Irving Putnam did in his message. He believes that football matters will be improved through the use of the expression “honorable obligation,” because it implies that violating this commitment is dishonorable.
