Letter from Theodore Roosevelt to Henry Cabot Lodge

President Roosevelt has taken the matter of sending a revenue cutter up with Secretary of State Elihu Root. He tells Senator Lodge that he cannot write a letter for “that Brookline celebration.” Roosevelt receives requests like that every day, and if he obliges in one case, he will have to do it for all of them.
