President Roosevelt is pleasantly surprised about the presidential election results, but is dumbfounded about Massachusetts Governor John Lewis Bates’s loss. Roosevelt is glad Lodge approved of his timing announcing he would not run for a third term in office. He looks forward to speaking with Lodge in person soon.
