President Theodore Roosevelt was amused by Congressman Driscoll’s letter. Roosevelt declares Mason Mitchell, Ambassador in Zanzibar, a “good fellow” and has notified Assistant Secretary of State Loomis to assign him to another remote location when possible, which is necessitated by Mitchell’s health.
