Dana Wright is planning a trip from Fort Rice to study Sully Trail and hopes to stop in Medora, North Dakota. He has visited several sites in southern North Dakota and is anxious to examine the Little Missouri River between Sully Creek and Custer Wash as he is puzzled by the trail in this area.

Dana Wright camped near the Diamond C Ranch to study the Sully battlefield near Killdeer Mountain. The owner agreed to donate an acre for the placement of a marker. Wright is currently in the hospital with a jaw problem.

Dana Wright has obtained a “Johnson-Anders write up” of the Custer Trail of 1874 and disagrees with several aspects of the map. He also has microfilm of Sibley and Custer records but was unable to view it due to a malfunctioning microfilm viewer.
