Letter from George W. Whitehead to Theodore Roosevelt
George W. Whitehead, Appraiser of the Port of New York, informs President Roosevelt that he has done as he was directed and informed Assistant Appraiser Harvey T. Andrews that any campaign contributions received from importers should be returned without delay. Andrews reported that to his knowledge no funds had been requested from importers except in the case of Edwin S. Lorsch, of the firm of Sussfeld, Lorsch, & Co. That money has since been returned.
