Theodore Roosevelt Association Journal – Winter-Spring-Summer, 2017

Gatherings of members of the Theodore Roosevelt Association (TRA) make up much of this issue with reports on and extensive photo albums documenting the 2016 annual meeting of the TRA in Oyster Bay, New York, and the June 2017 visit onboard the aircraft carrier USS Theodore Roosevelt. Two articles derived from addresses at the annual meeting, on Theodore Roosevelt’s fascination with birds and his role in furthering the adoption of the presidential primary election, are joined by another on Roosevelt’s use of the reinternment of naval hero John Paul Jones to promote the expansion of the United States Navy. An excerpt from a Roosevelt letter and an index to the Theodore Roosevelt Association Journal 2015 and 2016 complete the issue.

TRA announcements

Tilchin, as gifts for the holiday season. The ninety-seventh annual meeting of the Theodore Roosevelt Association on Long Island

Report on the 2016 annual meeting of the Theodore Roosevelt Association (TRA) held in Oyster Bay, New York. The report, accompanied by fourteen photographs and an illustration, briefly describes the major events of the meeting, including the symposium, awards ceremony, annual dinner, and field trips. The report lists the symposium speakers and their topics, award winners, dinner speakers, and meeting organizers. The report is followed by a fifteen page photo album of ninety color photographs showing the various venues, including Sagamore Hill National Historic Site, speakers, guests, award winners, and dignitaries in attendance.
