Letter from Melville B. Mahurin to Theodore Roosevelt
Mellville B. Mahurin expounds on his views of religion, humanity, natural sciences, and the order of the universe in the manifesto he sends to Theodore Roosevelt. Building on contemporary understandings of atomic theory, Mahurin postulates that the nature of the universe and the teachings of Jesus Christ have been obfuscated by organized religion. In spite of previous letters of rejection from notable individuals, Mahurin seeks Roosevelt’s thoughts on his theories submitted “in the spirit of progressive development.”
