On behalf of Emperor William II of Germany, Ambassador von Holleben asks President Roosevelt to give his permission for his daughter, Alice Roosevelt, to help christen the Emperor’s newly-built yacht. The yacht is nearly completed, and will be ready to be launched at the end of February, 1902.

Ambassador von Holleben encloses “the mentioned memorandum” and asks President Roosevelt to reply after Holleben returns from accompanying Prince Heinrich of Prussia. During his absence, Baron Ritter zu Gruenstein, Second Secretary of the German Embassy, will be responsible for responding to orders from the German government and Holleben requests that Roosevelt receive Gruenstein if necessary.
