Letter from Berry A. Hodgins to Theodore Roosevelt

Berry A. Hodgins appeals to Theodore Roosevelt for help with his government disability pension. Having been wounded in the Spanish-American war, Hodgins has been unable to work for many years, but was recently told that in order to receive a fresh pension certificate he would have to be examined in New Orleans. Due to the recent rain, he was unable to make it there by the deadline, as travel was impossible and he was confined to bed. Hodgins asks Roosevelt to write to the department to extend his deadline.
