Arthur R. Gray regrets that he only now received the reply to his letter from Theodore Roosevelt’s secretary, which explains his absence from the meeting Roosevelt suggested. He points out that if the letter had been sent to the proper address he may have received it in time to make the appointment. Gray would call on Roosevelt while he is in Birmingham, Alabama, but realizes his schedule is likely already overly full.
