Chief Archivist Herman R. Friis has located a photostat of the map requested by Historian Chester L. Brooks and a positive photostat will be created and mailed. The map is of “General J. N. G. Whistler’s reconnaissance from the Missouri River to the Yellowstone River in 1871.”

The map of the 1864 Sully Expedition drawn by Lieutenant Colonel Pattee and requested by Historian Brooks could not be located. However, Chief Archivist Friis provides information on a different map from the same expedition, a copy of which could be provided upon request.
