Albany W.A.

Postcard showing various scenes of the city and surrounding areas of Albany, Western Australia.

Comments and Context

In Charles C. Myers’s own words, “Albany is a little city of about 10,000 population and situated on the south coast of West Australia. It is quite a coaling station for ocean steamers and the U.S. fleet stoppes [sic] there a few days for coal before starting on the long trip to the Philipine [sic] Islands. This shows several of the views about the city. This big rock is called the ‘Dog’s Head’ because of its peculiar shape. It is a very large rock–much larger than any building in the city and it seems to be on a balance on the side of a cliff and should it be started it would roll down in the valley several hundred feet below.”
