Tenth Anniversary of the Roosevelt Study Center

Robert D. Dalziel addresses the Roosevelt Study Center (RSC) on the occasion of its tenth anniversary. Dalziel quotes Theodore Roosevelt about the need for military preparedness in times of peace, and he believes that the RSC is uniquely positioned to foster international cooperation. Dalziel says that the Theodore Roosevelt Association has agreed to increase its funding of the annual history awards conferred by the RSC. A text box listing the “1996 Annual Meeting/Dinner Patrons” appears on the second page of the address.

Six women who were president

Six women who were president

Robert D. Dalziel examines the history of the Woman’s Roosevelt Memorial Association (WRMA), noting how the organization struggled in its early years to raise funds to reconstruct Theodore Roosevelt’s boyhood home. Dalziel notes the cooperation between the WRMA and the Roosevelt Memorial Association and how the two organizations would eventually merge in 1956 to form the Theodore Roosevelt Association (TRA). Dalziel highlights the six presidents of the WRMA and says that both organizations had to add “Theodore” to their names to prevent confusion with Franklin D. Roosevelt.

The article includes a photograph of Alice Gilbert Demorest, the first President of the WRMA, and a listing of the members of the executive committee of the TRA.

The Theodore Roosevelt Association: Past Present and Future

The Theodore Roosevelt Association: Past Present and Future

Robert D. Dalziel speaks on the occasion of being elected 12th President of the Theodore Roosevelt Association (TRA). He recalls the beginning of his interest in Theodore Roosevelt, as well as his involvement with the TRA and how the TRA has developed. The TRA has grown greatly and strengthened its ties with a number of Roosevelt-related sites, and Dalziel hopes to continue growing the membership of the TRA across the country. Other areas that Dalziel hopes to focus on include putting the TRA on a firmer financial footing and enhancing the scholarly reputation of the TRA.

Accompanying Dalziel’s speech is a brief list of recent recipients of the TRA’s Theodore Roosevelt Distinguished Service Medal, and photographs of President George Bush interacting with members of the TRA at a lecture by David G. McCullough.
