Letter from Arthur Brisbane to J. Aldrich Libbey

Arthur Brisbane offers his opinion about why President Roosevelt’s reelection would be spoken of as a third term, drawing a distinction between terms and elections. Brisbane believes people object to three terms, not three elections, and that if Roosevelt were elected again, even though it would only be the second time, people would not like it. He is heartened, however, that Roosevelt himself has pledged not to run again.
