Thomas Henry Barry expresses his admiration for Thayer’s The Peace of Righteousness to Theodore Roosevelt, praising its patriotic message and recommending it for students across the country. He notes it will be shared with the cadets. Barry mentions that Colonel Holt invited Roosevelt to lecture and adds his own invitation, saying they would be honored by a visit.

General Barry notifies British Colonel Lee that he has sent the annual report, and he will send the Army Register as soon as it is available. In regard to the issuance of the Spanish Campaign Badge to foreign military attachés, the general staff have not yet been able to work out whether it will be possible, but Barry will notify Lee as soon as they decide.

Barry notes that they will include all foreign officers who were attached to the United States Army during the Spanish-American War in any action they might take.

General Barry, Superintendent of the United States Military Academy, tells General Wotherspoon that shortly after Wotherspoon left, Theodore Roosevelt visited, and was very interested in Wotherspoon’s upcoming trip to Germany. He asks that Wotherspoon tell Roosevelt some of the details of the trip, and additionally send him a report on airplanes, as Roosevelt expressed some interest in their military uses.

Thomas Henry Barry, the superintendent of West Point, provides Assemblyman Cuvillier with feedback and information about the bill he introduced that would limit the sale of alcohol near the academy. The consensus is that the bill as written is best, but as a last resort, it could be amended to apply only to cadets. This is an official copy that was provided to Theodore Roosevelt by Barry.

Barry says that in all of his interactions with Steinhart, Steinhart was intelligent, tactful, and exercised good judgement. Barry has full confidence in Steinhart, and urges Magoon to confer with him whenever necessary.

Barry hopes President Roosevelt will favor his claim to be appointed Major General, as it will be his last appointment during Roosevelt’s administration. German Ambassador Herman Speck Von Sternburg and his wife, Lillian May Speck von Sternburg, are leaving Cuba for Tampa today. They have enjoyed their visit, and can give the president an interesting account of the trip.
