Located at 28 East 20th Street in Manhattan, New York, Theodore Roosevelt Birthplace National Historic Site is a reconstruction of the house Roosevelt was born in on that site in 1858. Acquired in 1919 by the Women’s Roosevelt Memorial Association (later a part of the Theodore Roosevelt Association), they began an extensive renovation of the property to revert it to an exact reproduction of how it would have looked when Roosevelt was a boy. After a three year renovation, the memorial opened to the public in 1923.
This collection has been digitized and cataloged on site at Theodore Roosevelt Birthplace and then received by digital library staff. The collection contains documents and artifacts relating to the 1905 Inauguration, the Roosevelts’ family life and publications by and about Theodore Roosevelt.
