Francis Folsom Cleveland, wife of former President Grover Cleveland, has found the enclosed note in a volume of Dickens but is unable to match it to any of their books. She wonders if the book it refers, to, an edition of Dante sent by the King of Italy, is in the White House library and hopes that President Roosevelt can solve the mystery for her.

Houghton Mifflin has been approached by Gebbie & Company and asked to allow two of their copyrighted works by President Roosevelt to be included in a complete edition of Roosevelt’s works. Houghton Mifflin wants to make sure that Gebbie & Company has Roosevelt’s permission for this proposed publication before proceeding. Gebbie & Company will pay $2,500 for the rights, and this money will be split between Houghton Mifflin and President Roosevelt.
