President Roosevelt congratulates his son, Theodore Roosevelt, on his grades. He cautions Ted against making a mistake that he personally made when he was at Harvard where he got good grades in the first half of the year, and then did not study for the second half and ended up with low marks because of poor grades in his finals. Frank Witherbee visited Roosevelt recently.

President Roosevelt writes to Groton School Rector Endicott Peabody regarding Kermit Roosevelt’s performance at the school. Kermit has done poorly the past two months, and, although the president questioned Kermit’s efforts the first month, he believes Kermit did his best the second month. Edith Kermit Carow Roosevelt has written to Arthur Woods to see about a tutor for Kermit.

Letter from Theodore Roosevelt to Stewart Edward White

President Roosevelt believes Stewart Edward White was probably right to decline the trust inspector appointment. He wishes there were a suitable position to put Charles S. Newhall in, but he cannot take up that matter at present. Roosevelt mentions Ted Roosevelt’s desire to get out with White, but the president says Ted will have to wait until his studies improve.
