Letter from Theodore Roosevelt to Joseph Gurney Cannon

President Roosevelt draws Speaker of the House Cannon’s attention to Thomas H. Netherland, who would like to be appointed to be one of the official stenographers of House Committees. Roosevelt says that Netherland has worked as a stenographer in the executive office during his term as president, and that he has been “efficient and faithful.” Roosevelt encourages Cannon to give Netherland a chance.
