This draft of a preface to the book The Administration of an Institutional Church, the admirable qualities of Reverend W. S. Rainsford are lauded, along with the good that he did for St. George’s Church in New York City. The final paragraph says that Rainsford’s retirement increases the “welcome of this book, as an inspiring record of his labors.” (Elbert F. Baldwin provided this draft at the request of President Roosevelt, who revised the text before the book was published.)
