Theodore Roosevelt thanks Governor Hadley for countering rumors regarding Roosevelt’s consumption of alcohol. Roosevelt appreciates Hadley’s work during the campaign for the Republican presidential nomination and regrets that Hadley will not be joining the new third party movement. Roosevelt does not see a usefulness for the Republican Party under its current leadership but would never question Hadley’s “conscientiousness.”

Sanderson alleges that Gebbie and Company misrepresented the content and uniqueness of the author’s edition of President Roosevelt’s works to which she was a subscriber.

James McCormick Dalzell questions the propriety of the publication of several ungrammatical letters in a local newspaper. The letters were originally sent to Commissioner of Pensions Ware from individuals seeking pensions, and their publication appears to be an effort to mock the letter writers. Dalzell requests that Ware remove the employee responsible for the publication of the letters.
