William H. Kelsey asks Theodore Roosevelt to keep William H. Taft from getting the Presidential nomination at the Republican National Convention. Kelsey believes if Taft wins the nomination, he will be beaten worse than any other man running for office. Although Robert M. La Follette is better than Taft, Kelsey will be voting for Roosevelt in the primaries and hopes Roosevelt will run for the office himself.

White believes the slump in railroad stocks is due to anti-railroad sentiment in the middle Western states and the unwanted interference of attorneys hired by railroad executives Edward Henry Harriman, George Jay Gould, and Mr. Marowitz in local politics.

Letter from Hamilton Fish II to William Loeb

Assistant Treasurer Fish writes to President Roosevelt through William Loeb that the political situation in New York has improved as previously reticent politicians, such as New York Governor Odell, are now showing support for Roosevelt’s renomination after the admirable way in which Roosevelt treated Senator Hanna’s initial lack of support. Fish closes by addressing the irregularities in the post office department and suggesting that any fraud should be investigated and punished.
