Nelson M. Parker claims to be the president of a nationwide society and offers to use the society to work on behalf of a Roosevelt presidential campaign. He requests some funding to get the campaign started. Parker also offers Roosevelt some ancient books and maps that would “startle the world” if made public.

William Allen White is a strong supporter of Vice President Roosevelt and has spent two years directing his political efforts towards a Roosevelt presidency. He argues that Roosevelt will need the support of Senators Hanna, Platt, and Quay and can acquire their support without resorting to dirty politics. White also believes that there is a suitable place for money in political campaigns.

Robert C. Dunn regrets that he will be unable to attend the dinner and meet Vice President Roosevelt. Dunn admires Roosevelt and hopes he will have the opportunity to vote for him in the 1904 presidential election.

Henry F. Charles suggests that the key issue in upcoming presidential elections will be reciprocity. Since Vice President Roosevelt is already popular with the people, becoming a leading figure on reciprocity will gain Roosevelt the support of “commercial, manufacturing, and financial elements.” Charles is working with Maurice L. Muhleman on a new publication called The World’s Trade. He would like to discuss the publication with Senator Depew and requests a letter of introduction.
