However, the secretary believes Roosevelt would not have written to Green’s friend, Dr. Jordan, since Roosevelt believes each man needs to join the Progressive Party of his own free will.

Theodore Roosevelt’s secretary tells Warren H. Miller that Roosevelt can not look over W. Robert Foran’s manuscript while he is on his western campaign tour. The secretary has looked over the article and deems it all right. He assures Miller that Roosevelt will gladly read Foran’s article after it is published. (“With Roosevelt in Africa” appeared in Field and Stream, of which Miller was editor, in October 1912.)

Theodore Roosevelt’s secretary thanks H. D. W. English for sending a letter reporting that Bishop Nathaniel S. Thomas had joined the Progressive Party. If Thomas wants to meet with Roosevelt while he is in the West, they will have to meet on the train. Roosevelt is not stopping in Wyoming, because it is controlled by the old political bosses, and he is reserving his time for places where he can do some good.

On behalf of Theodore Roosevelt, Frank Harper thanks Judge Hasbrouck for his letter. Harper suggests Hasbrouck wait until the end of the month when Roosevelt returns to New York, and in the meantime he should send a letter detailing what he wishes to discuss with Roosevelt.

Frank Harper has forwarded Gilson Gardner’s letter to Theodore Roosevelt. Harper is sure Roosevelt will be glad to hear of Gardner’s conversation with Governor Wilson. Harper will also send Roosevelt’s itinerary to Rickey, to see if Rickey can join Roosevelt on the train in the next few days.

Father Curran has sent R. H. Thomas’s kind invitation on to Theodore Roosevelt. However, Roosevelt’s secretary informs Thomas that Roosevelt will not be able to accept the Great Grangers’ Interstate Picnic Exhibition invitation because he has already started his campaign trip west.
