Urbain J. Ledoux was offered a diplomatic post at Prague which would have been a substantial promotion, and he declined. The State Department does not believe that Ledoux is fit for Antwerp or Halifax, and President Roosevelt will not offer him these appointments.

Mary C. B. Walsh asks Edith Kermit Carow Roosevelt if she would be willing to mail her the photographs that she had previously showed the Roosevelts, as she prizes them and has promised to send a copy of them to someone else. She enjoyed seeing Theodore Roosevelt when he traveled through Yakima, Washington, on a recent trip.

James Sullivan Clarkson writes to President Roosevelt on behalf of a Corporal Tanner, who seeks placement in Liverpool, England in lieu of Canadian placements in Quebec, Halifax, or Nova Scotia. Clarkson quotes Tanner’s plea to serve in England over the Consul at Liverpool. Tanner asserts that since he is a paraplegic, he would be of more use in Liverpool, while Canadian James Boyle is more suited to placements in Canada.
