Roosevelt is looking forward to Knox’s two speeches and asks whether he could address the attack that Roosevelt violated the Constitution. Roosevelt wonders if Knox could join him for lunch in the next ten days and sends his love to Mrs. Knox.

Edith Kermit Carow Roosevelt regrets a misunderstanding which led to Clara Root and other Cabinet officers’ wives to be kept waiting for tea following a reception. They were supposed to be welcomed in during the reception, not after. A similar note was sent to the other wives.

Philander C. Knox hopes Edith Kermit Carow Roosevelt’s accident is exaggerated in the papers and she is not seriously hurt. Lillian Smith Knox and Knox send their sympathy.
Edith Kermit Carow Roosevelt had been thrown from her horse on September 30, 1911, causing her to hit her head and remain unconscious for several days.
